In 2023 the OSE GmbH organized the BMW IBU Biathlon World Championships 2023 in Oberhof. It was founded on the 29th of November 2020 and succeeds the “WSRO Skisport GmbH” which has been in charge of the World Cups up until then. For the organisation and execution of the biathlon events, the Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH can build upon the member clubs of the Thüringer Skiverband e.V. The volunteers are an indispensable support. Besides the biathlon competitions, which shine far beyond the region of the Thuringian forest, the Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH organises the “Firmenlauf Thüringens Süden” which has become a tradition. One goal of the company is to organise other international (elite) sport events in the LOTTO Thüringen Arena am Rennsteig and to develop touristic attractions. The Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH is a subsidiary company of the administration union “Thüringer Wintersportzentrum Oberhof” (TWZ) with the Olympic performance centre Thuringia. The TWZ is the owner and operator of all sports facilities in Oberhof and also the home of numerous Olympic, World and European Champions. It sets the framework conditions for the current top and junior athletes in seven Olympic winter sport disciplines. The chairman of the administration union “Thüringer Wintersportzentrum Oberhof” is Stephan König. The Oberhofer Sport und Event GmbH and the TWZ work together, hand in hand, to create an unforgettable experience at the World Cups for athletes as well as for the fans.
