LOTTO Thüringen ARENA am Rennsteig

The "LOTTO Thüringen ARENA am Rennsteig" in Oberhof is a renowned venue for the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon in Oberhof. Situated at an altitude of 814 metres above sea level, the arena houses the start/finish, a penalty loop and a shooting range. The shooting range has 30 stands with a distance of 50 metres to the electronic targets. The penalty loop is 150 metres long and 5 metres wide. With a capacity of approx. 20,050 spectator seats, 13,050 of them in the stadium and 7,000 along the courses, the arena offers an excellent view of the target range in a distance of 55 to 160 metres.

The "LOTTO Thüringen ARENA am Rennsteig" functions not only as a biathlon stadium, but also as a venue for major events such as the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon, and other biathlon and cross-country competitions. The surrounding roller tracks provide optimal conditions for resident training groups. Away from the competitions, events such as the company run "Firmenlauf THÜRINGENS SÜDEN®" are held regularly. 

The arena was built in 1982 and thoroughly renovated from 2001 to 2003. This is where the world's biathlon elite test their skills, while up to 20,500 spectators can watch the competitions. The facility has also been used for World Cup competitions in cross-country skiing and Nordic combined. In advance of the biathlon world championships in 2023, the "LOTTO Thüringen ARENA am Rennsteig" has been sustainably modernised.
